What Makes a Heat Pump Different?

Then, the liquid refrigerant enters the evaporator coil in a specific amount, where it shifts back into gaseous form. Unlike a traditional air conditioner, a heat pump can reverse the refrigerant process to not only be a highly effective and efficient cooling system, but to provide you with sufficient heat in the winter time. Heat pumps are essentially year-round systems that don’t require you to buy two separate systems—a great benefit if you were also facing a furnace or heater replacement this year!

What about Efficiency?

That’s right—we mentioned efficiency. This is perhaps the biggest advantage of a heat pump, how efficient it is. Any newer air conditioner is going to behave more efficiently than an aging cooling system upon installation (so long as it is professionally installed and sized correctly for your living space). But what makes this system great is when fall and winter hits—this is where a heat pump really shines.

Some heat pump systems can struggle a bit during freezing cold temperatures, but our environment is generally mild enough in the winter to render these concerns moot.
